J & S Valve combines the highest quality materials available in an AWWA Gate Valves, C509 & C515 Resilient Seated Gate Valve. J & S offers Ductile Iron Body, Bonnet, Wedge and Gland where as the AWWA Specifications allow for Cast Iron. Cast Iron (Class B) has approximately 1% elongation verses ductile iron which has approximately 9% elongation. The tensile strength of Cast Iron is 31,000 psi. The tensile strength of Ductile Iron is 65,000psi. Since Cast Iron has less elongation than Ductile Iron, it can rupture under less pressure than Ductile Iron. When pressure surges occur in a system, Ductile Iron Valves can withstand higher pressure surges than Cast Iron Valves. The Ductile Iron Wedge is totally encapsulated with EPDM Rubber verses Buna-N. EPDM is more resistant to Chlorine and Chloramines which are used in high concentration in Reuse Water Systems. J & S standardizes on Stainless Steel Stem that has a tensile strength of 64,000psi which is twice as much as Bronze Stems. This selection of materials along with Stainless Steel Fasteners and NSF/ANSI 61 Approved Fusion Bonded Epoxy coating* on the interior of the valves, the exterior of the valves and on the handwheel or 2" operating nuts assures the End-User a robust, long lasting, maintenance free valve. We offers the body made of cast iron, the disc of 316 stainless steel, the shaft of 304 stainless steel and the seat is EPDM for service temperatures up to 250°F. We offer the General Purpose Commercial Butterfly Valves in both wafer style and lug style bodies. We offer 2" - 12" Lever Operated and 5" - 24" we offer with a gear operator.

Head-Flex Check Valves

The J&S VALVE - HED-FLEX DUCKBILL VALVE Model DBV-09 Series Duck Bill Rubber Check Valve, is a cost effective way to control back pressures from sewage treatment plants, outfalls and tidal operations. They are a fully passive flow device requiring neither maintenance, outside sources of power or manual assistance to operate.

 

The J&S VALVE - HED-FLEX DUCKBILL VALVE Model DBV-09 Series Duck Bill Rubber Check Valves, are offered as direct replacements for ineffective and maintenance ridden flap type check valves, which are commonly known to seize, rust and bind in un­wanted positions. Unlike flap type valves, the Duckbill rubber check valves will handle large obstructions without jamming or having swing gates binding open.

 

Specify, the J&S VALVE -HED-FLEX DUCKBILL VALVE Model DBV-09 Series Duckbill Rubber Check Valves, to provide backflow protection from: Sewage slurries, Outfalls to ocean fronts from heavy rainfall activity, Pre­vention from land erosion due to back flow conditions, Protection from saltwater to fresh water ponds or catch basins and numerous other water based applications.
